Nourishing Rice Milk Hair Rinse
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of cooked rice (any variety—white, brown, or even black rice)
- 2 cups water
- 1-2 drops of essential oil (optional, such as lavender, rosemary, or chamomile for added nourishment and fragrance)
Instructions:
Cook the rice: In a pot, combine 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water. Cook the rice as usual until fully tender.
Extract the rice milk: After the rice is cooked, strain it, reserving the starchy water. This liquid is your rice milk, which contains the beneficial vitamins, minerals, and proteins for your hair.
Optional step for a smoother consistency: If you want a smoother texture, blend the cooked rice with 2 cups of fresh water until smooth, then strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove any rice particles. This ensures a silky rice milk rinse.
Cool to room temperature: Let the rice milk cool completely before applying it to your hair to avoid any heat damage.
Add essential oils: Once the rice milk has cooled, add 1-2 drops of essential oil if desired. Lavender, rosemary, and chamomile are great options for hair health and relaxation.
Apply to hair: After shampooing and conditioning your hair, slowly pour the rice milk rinse over your hair, making sure it saturates all strands, from the roots to the tips.
Massage: Gently massage your scalp for 3-5 minutes to stimulate blood circulation, which can promote hair growth and absorb nutrients better.
Leave it in: Let the rice milk sit on your hair for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the nutrients to penetrate.
Rinse thoroughly: Rinse your hair with cool water to seal the hair cuticles and enhance shine.
Usage Tips:
Use this rice milk rinse 1-2 times per week as a final step after shampooing and conditioning for best results. Regular use can help detangle, condition, and add shine to your hair.
Pro tip: If you have fine hair, you may want to dilute the rice milk further with an extra cup of water to avoid weighing it down.
